Espresso cabinets used to be all the rage but lately, they have been replaced with white painted cabinets taking the top spot in popularity. Well, I wouldn't count them out just yet! They have just as much versatility as their painted counterparts. A variety of countertops and backsplashes complement them nicely and can sway to whatever style you are looking to achieve. Below are some ways to create your dream kitchen with the dark stained cabinet…
Adapting espresso stained cabinets to a modern interior is very simple. I would suggest selecting a simpler cabinet profile, such as a Shaker door or one with similar, clean lines. A crisp, clean quartz top would really stand out from the darker cabinets. Finish it off with polished chrome or polished nickel hardware and lighting and you will have a kitchen that fits in nicely with your modern home.
Transitional interiors are one of the most popular design styles today. It's a nice blend of modern and traditional; with the cleaner lines of modern style but the warmness of a traditional interior. You could pair espresso cabinets with a light granite top and add a subway tile backsplash. The key to the transitional style kitchen is to add accessories that keep the kitchen from looking to stark and bare. Warmer accents such as brushed nickel or oil rubbed bronze hardware as well as strategically placed decorative accessories will really complete the space.
Traditional kitchens look great with espresso stained cabinets. Selecting a more detailed cabinet door profile and adding glazing to the finish is a beginning step for creating a traditional kitchen. Granites with a lot of movement or veining are popular as well as golden color ways of granite. A very classic choice would be a Carrera marble countertop, white with veins of gray. More ornate hardware and lighting is a necessity in this style of space and a tumbled stone backsplash is a great accompaniment to the cabinets and countertops.
