MWUAAAH HAHA HAAA HA.
Did I scare you?
No? Not really? Well, what can I say. Being scary isn’t my forte. But Halloween is, that’s for sure.
It’s our family’s favorite holiday, so we love to go all out. And while we may not be the “scary” Halloween types, we sure love to have fun with it. We bust the costumes out early and we decorate as soon as October hits. Or leaf falls. Whichever comes first.
The thing I love about Halloween décor, is that a little goes a long way. You don’t have to go crazy. It’s about getting creative and having fun along the way. If you’re a Halloween décor newbie, here’s a few fun tips to get you started.
Halloween is such a great holiday, for big kids and littles alike. It gives us parents a chance to PLAY, and to get in a child-like mindset. In this same vein, think FAMILY when you decorate. Save money by making crafts together. Make bats from construction paper for a fun centerpiece. Or make this candy corn garland for your Fall mantle.
Pay special attention to your front porch, since that’s where trick or treaters will come and go. And remember, you can do as much (or as little) as you like. Add a few easy spiderwebs or cornstalks alongside your pumpkins. Or if you want to keep it simple, and still have a big effect, focus one your door. Use paper and household accessories like paper plates to make a fun face or character.
A mantle is the focal point of the living room, in so many houses. Do yours up right. Add some spooky touches, sparse branches, black bats or cats. If you really want that extra touch, style it asymmetrically to create a sense of whimsy.
The number one rule of Halloween is FUN, is it not? So have fun with it!
Happy Halloween!
