It may be a likely place for cabinetry, but go beyond the basics for a bathroom
whose look belies its extensive storage.

“One unusually creative storage solution we often do involves bathrooms. We
use a tambour wall cabinet sitting on the top of the vanity (when space allows,
of course) to provide a place for all of the hair dryers, curling irons,
electric toothbrushes and razors to stay plugged in but not be an eyesore.”

Consider these cabinet uses:
-
Overwhelmed by toiletries? Use
long narrow drawers to keep storage to one layer—any more than that and
you’ll spend too much time fishing for small items.
-
Install a narrow magazine rack
against the exposed side of a cabinet or wall to keep reading materials.
-
There’s no sense in storing
your toilet paper in a closet down the hall. Basket storage is an easily
accessible and stylish way to keep an adequate number of rolls on hand.
-
Make sure you have a base
cabinet earmarked to house your toilet brush and cleanser.
-
Consider what tasks you do at
your sink. Is it simply a place for brushing your teeth, or is it where
you apply your makeup each morning? Make a list of everything you need to
use on a daily basis and make sure you have a place for it at hand.
-
Save time and energy by
sorting at the source. Use a deep pullout drawer to store hampers for lights,
darks, and delicates.
-
Use basket or deep drawer
storage to house towels and washcloths.
-
Add furniture feet to your
vanity to give it a freestanding, heirloom look.
