Tired of “spring cleaning” your garage’s mess every month? Planning to spend
your summer nights barbecuing outdoors? You mind may drum up images of
screwdrivers and hot dogs more readily than cabinets, but cabinets may just be
the most important ingredient in your outside-the-home lifestyle.
While there may be a few more components to consider—after all, outdoor
cabinets need to withstand your children’s fingerprints and the winter
months—they can provide just as effective organization and storage as their
interior counterparts.

“Some cabinet manufacturers offer cabinets that have
a stainless steel exterior but a particle board interior, which is probably not
suitable for the elements in many areas. Be sure to check that the entire
cabinet is made of stainless steel.”

Consider these
cabinet uses:
-
Placing you cabinets on the ground isn’t such a
grounded choice. For an added dose of protection, install your cabinets on a
base made of masonry blocks, accented with stucco or ceramic tile.
-
Use cabinets to house dinnerware, knives and
appropriate utensils (like corn on the cob holders), glasses, and serving
platters.
-
Include a large storage area for grill accessories,
like serving and cooking tools, extra grates, or unused rotisseries.
